Write for us
We welcome thoughtful proposals about how people hear, interpret and take part in live music. A strong contribution has a clear question, a distinct angle and a useful idea for readers, without requiring specialist knowledge to follow.
What we are looking for
Pitch evergreen work on performance, sound, repertoire, concert spaces or listening. We are interested in clear explanations, fair comparisons, cultural context, thoughtful myth-checking and occasion-specific ways to listen. Each proposal should bring a fresh focus rather than repeat a familiar general introduction to concerts.
Make the pitch specific
Use the Contact page to send a proposed title, a short summary of the central idea, the category it best fits and why the subject matters to a general reader. Mention any expertise or sources relevant to the proposal, but do not send confidential material or assume a pitch has been accepted.
What happens next
We consider proposals for fit, clarity, originality and usefulness. Sending a pitch is not a guarantee of publication, and we may ask for changes to the scope or approach. Please send proposals through the Contact page so they can be directed to the right editorial purpose.
Listen for the choices, not just the highlights
A live performance unfolds in real time. We look at the details that make each one distinct, without insisting there is only one right way to listen.
